I am a Senior Dental Technician.

I graduated in dental technology and then took a masters in material science. Now I work as a Cad cam manager and materials coordinator in a laboratory. It has been a natural progression. I have always been worked with CAD/CAM. I cannot pinpoint when or where we first started working digitally. We have always been on the frontline of new technology and material developments.

We have never had to advertise the work we do or the materials we use. We let our work speak for itself and customers and patients appreciate our discretion. The software packages we use are EXOCAD, 3shape, meshmixer, to name just a few, and DGSHAPE for mill nesting.

CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE BENEFITS CAD/CAM HAS BROUGHT YOU?

There are pros and cons to both. It really depends on the user. I have some dentists who use cad/cam who require a lot of assistance to achieve the required results. And the same can be said for analog users. It’s a question of teamwork. The systems are as effective as each other. Which is why we still and will always use both.

I started using DGSHAPE thanks to my father and the purchase of a milling machine.
